I am a big lover of art, but the currents until surrealism.
I simply don't like the post-surrealism art, artists like Picasso, Dalí or Pollock.
The only artist I like from surrealism is Frida Kahlo, who reflex her pain of the post tragic trauma she had. There is a film about her, with Salma Hayek, if you want to know more about it.
I like a lot of artists, but I couldn't mantion one of them, because I don't even know which one is my favourite.
1. Hands resist him, by Bill Stoneham, 1972.
I first saw this painting on a top of "cursed paintings", and it captured my attention.
Let's talk about the painting: the story of this painting is really dark:
- The things is: the represented characters are the painter as himself and his little sister.
He hated his sister and so this is why he represented her as a doll, as something without soul, dead.
- The perspective of the painting is really weird: if you analize the proportions, the door is seems giant, in comparation with the children.
- There is not so many realism in the painting, I am sure the artist would represent more the idea, than be as realistic as he can.
- I am not sure about the "hole" at the top of the boy's head: it is really a hole, or some moon... No, it is not a moon, seriously, It's look like a hole, but if we analize it, the light wouldn't be so clear, there actually wouldn't be any light in there.
- The hands: I have read that those hands were demons, and the place that is behind the door was actually a dark place, like hell or something, a dark side.
- So the doll would be a character who want capture the boy into this dark side.
- The infrared picture show us that this object that the girl is holding, actually reminds a wepon, a gun or a knife or blaze, that is pointing to the boy.
- The painting is based in an old photo of the artist and his sister, just look a him, the way he is watching to the camera. I know that old photos are creepy as itself, but this photo surely shows us the way the boy hate standing near at the girl.
You can learn more about it in the web, but this painting was found by a couple or someone, in a bar, and it was exposed in EBAY to sell, and someone buyed it. The man was talking about the painting: his little daughter was afraid to sleep at night, because the kids on the painting were fighting. So the man put a camera and captures images along the night. Then he throw it away, or sell it, I don't know.
- Nowadays this painting is hidden in a gallery, in an archive, not exposed to the public.
