Little killers: children who killed someone

When we think on a child, we imagine a happy, little person, who play with friends and just be a nice kid.

But those are rather pictures of the 50's, because nowadays there are real murders made by kids.

1. Christian Fernandez

When he was two years old, he was found naked and dirty while his drandmother, who was taking care of him, was holded up cocaine in a hotel room, while his 14 years-old mother can be found nowhere,

Christian was sexually assaulted by his cousin, and beaten by his stepfather, who committed suicide before police arrived to investigate.

In 2011, Christian was charged with a first-degree murder after the beating death of his 2-year-old half-brother. He was also charged with the sexual abuse of his 6-year-old half-brother.

In 2013, Christian was condemned until he will reach 19 years-old.

2. Mary Bell

In May 1968, Mary strangled a four-year-old Martin Brown in a derelict house, Scotswood, England.
In July of the same year, Mary and her friend Norma Joyce Bell (no family relation) who was 13, strangled and mutilated 3-year-old Brian Howe.

An open verdict was originally been recorder for Brown's death as there was no evidence of foul play - although bell had strangled him, her grip was not hard to hard enough to leave any marcs.

Eventually, his death was linked to Howe's killing, and in August 1968, the girls were charged with two counts of manslaughter.

A Home Office psychiatrist told the court Mary had a psychopatic disorder for which she needed a treatement. However, a detective chief inspector who interrogated Mary found her to be "very cunning and insiduous".

As the verdict was read out, Mary broke down. Norma was acquitted and Mary Bell  was convincted of manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsability.

Since her realese from prison in 1980, Mary's identity has been prtected by a court order, which has also been extended to protect the identity of her daughter, born in May 25, 1984.

3. Jon Vanables and Robert Thompson

This is, maybe, a most famous case of two young boys who killed a little boy.

In 1993, James Bulger was missing, he had been coaxed away from his mother and walked right out of public area by two 10-year-old boys.

They took him on a 2.5. mile walk to a semi-secluded area in Liverpool, along some railrode tracks by an old cementery. That's where the two boys killed him.

They threw pain in his left eye, hit him with bricks, beat him with an iron bar, and shoved batteries into his mouth. They beat him so severaly that a coroner could not determine which of the blows was the fatal one.before leaving, boys laid Bulger out across the train tracks and weighed him down so that he couldn't move, hoping that a train would come and cut him in half. It was so.

The remains were found two days later, and after much investigating through the region, the two boys were identified  and brought before the court.

The two were sentenced to remain in custody until they turned 18, but were realeased in 2001. They were even given a witness-protection-style relocation and name-change.

4. Joshua Phillips

He was a 14 years old in 1998 when his 8 year old neighbor went missing.

After a week, his mother begun to notice an unpleasant odor emanating from inderneath his bed.
What she found wasn't anything she had expected to see in her life: the missing girl, dead, bloody, leaking fluids and beaten to a pulp.

When she questioned her son, he said that he had accidentally hit the girl in her eye with a baseball; she had begun to scream and he panicked, hitting her with the bat.

His story was more than a bit incomplete, since he failed to explain why he had to bludgeon the girl to death, or stab her 11 times, or hide her body under his bed afterward. A Florida jury didn't believe him, either, and he was convicted of first-degree murder.
